Sydney School of Arts & Humanities
ABOUT US Membership Benefits
Sydney School of Arts & Humanities is a reading and writing venture aimed at nurturing purpose, pleasure and playfulness in writing, reading and spiritual enquiry with the aim of global publication.
Our purpose at SSOA is two-fold

1. To organise writers’ meet ups (currently happily using Zoom due to coronavirus) & conduct creative writing and memoir tuition online, along with book coaching and author mentoring.

2. To publish the completed work of members and students.

The School brings together researchers and writers whose interests span the arts, human relationship, the ecology of nature, the built environment, and innovative ideas in the study of spirituality, society and politics.

Our publications range from memoir, novels and short story to poetry and the essay form. Individual writers and members of writing groups are encouraged to offer submissions for publishing consideration by our peer panels.

SERVICES
FACE TO FACE MEET UP WRITING GROUPS ... continuing via Zoom
Members of our narrative writing groups have been meeting weekly in Sydney over a decade to encourage and review each other’s writing. Their work is progressively published in the form of blog contributions, and for some dedicated emerging writers, as novels and memoir (print and ebook) showcased on this website.

We have suspended our 4 face-to-face meetups a week (day & evenings) at Sydney School of Arts & Humanities office in favour of Zoom meeups. To find out more about ZOOM online meet ups go to our Contact page. Bookings essential. New programs have begun and will continue even after regular face-to-face sessions resume.

Sydney School of Arts & Humanities is a sponsor of 4 meet ups, Sydney Writers’ Circle, Writing Sydney, Writer's Bloc and Inner West Readers.

Book Mentoring/Coaching
Maybe you're finding it hard to start your story - or even having trouble finding the time to continue your work. We offer you support to work through your blockages - sometimes referred to as 'writing block' - so that you develop a discipline which allows you to enjoy writing again so you can anticipate the progress of your story. You can find a submission form here to send us your manuscript. Check out our authors' books on sale here.

Ghost Writing
If you've lived a life worth writing about, let us help you! Here at SSOA, we have a team of experienced biographers, and they can help you write your story - even write it for you.

Looking back, you probably realise you've learnt a lot about life and want to share your story with family and friends or even publish or self-publish. We'll point you in the right direction. You've loved special times in your life and know that others would appreciate hearing about those episodes.
If you don't have the time, the energy or the skills to write your life story - or even a brief memoir of a particular period or incident in your life - we can provide all of those missing elements. You'll be pleased with the outcome - a personal account or a book for publication from your very own point of view. The first meeting to discuss the project is free.
