Video presentations of seven poems by award-winning South Indian poet, Syam Sudhakar, set against an imaginative backdrop of dance, music and sound effects.

The visual media culture of film, television and video that defines the creative expression of the younger generation is reflected in much of Syam Sudhakar’s  poetry.

In recognition of the strong visual elements resonant in Sudhakar’s writing, video producer-director, Lis James, has given a virtual life to the imagery of the poet’s words.


Poems include:

  • the tea cup
  • all the lucky ones
  • green sun
  • water and earth
  • enchantress atop a potted palm

Dance performances by: ashritha vemuganti, shruti sundaram, sampreetha kesavan, neelima vasudevan, devanand das

Slicing the Moon is a collaborative project between Sydney School of Arts & Humanities and Black Dot Creative Lab, India, produced for arts education, with the aim of advancement of the arts and literature.
